Review, sticker, sort, and restock donated books to prepare them for distribution to kids in our community.

Click the Individual Volunteer Signup if you are an individual volunteer to view our calendar and create an account to sign up.
Submit a Group Volunteer Request if you are interested in organizing a volunteer group with your company, school, or team.

Must be 12 years and older to volunteer. Volunteers age 12-16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. All volunteers under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian sign the waiver.

Individuals

Host a book drive with family, friends, or neighbors to collect books and support our mission.
Request books to refill Little Free Libraries in Central Ohio.

Corporations and Groups

Volunteer as a group at the Columbus Kids' Book Bank. Reviewing, stickering, and sorting books is a fantastic team building opportunity!
Host a team meeting or lunch in our space before or after your volunteer shift.
Organize a team book drive to collect books and support our mission
Sponsor a Monthly Book Giveaway and send volunteers from your team. Visit our Supporters page to learn about all sponsorship opportunities.
Request books to fill Little Free Libraries in Central Ohio. Teams can split up into groups to visit various Little Free Library locations in the area and refill them with new books.

Volunteer FAQs

Anyone in our community interested in promoting literacy and creating access to books is welcome to volunteer! We allow on-site volunteers 12 years and older. Volunteers under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult. Everyone under 18 needs to have a parent or guardian sign the waiver during the signup process.

If you have younger children that you would like to get involved, we encourage you to host a family book drive!

Volunteer shifts are typically 2 hours. If you are volunteering for a Monthly Book Giveaway, those shifts are typically 3 hours spanning the duration of the Giveaway.

We recommend dressing comfortably when you volunteer at the book bank. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes too. If you are volunteering with a group, we encourage you to wear gear representing your company, school, or team!
